Zimtsterne Recipe – Traditional German Cinnamon Cookies

One year living in Berlin opened my mind and taste buds into an amazing amount of new dishes. I have previously talked about my love of Christmas markets whilst in Europe, but if there is another thing that I love about this time of year are the sweets. Zimtsterne or Cinnamon Stars cookies are traditional German cookies that can be found around the Christmas months. They are a mix of almond and cinnamon cookies with a sweet frosting. So without further ado, cue the recipe… Ingredients 4 egg whites 390 grams powdered sugar, about 3 1/2 cups 400 grams raw almond meal, about 4 cups (you can make you own by…

Top 5 Christmas Markets in Europe

If there is something I didn’t know I needed but I can’t live without now….it’s Christmas Markets. I come from the southern part of the globe, which means that for the first 26 years of my life I spent Christmas during summer. And even though I remember seeing some xmas markets in Auckland….its’ just not the same. Glühwein, hot toddies, snow, melted cheese and hot sausages, mountains of candies and Christmas trees, fairy lights and spiced nuts these markets need to be on your buckets list. How to train for a 5k – AECC fun race

Not that it’s any surprise, but I’ve never been much of a fitness gal. My idea of a marathon is binge watching an entire Netflix series or going through the whole Harry Potter movies in a go, but I seem to have found a go to fitness routine when training for fun races. Fun races are short races, 5k or 10k where is ok to go at your own pace, walk or even dance. Some of them are used to raise money or awareness for a charity. A couple of years ago I signed up for a Color Run, and after that I manage to complete the Run of Bays…

Senses Box – A Balearic subscription box for the gourmet client

A couple of days ago I received a Senses Box. My first experience with subscription boxes was through Loot Create, a geeky sub box that every month sends you a variety of ‘geeky’ products, such as tshirts, games, toys, posters, etc. And from that moment on a whole universe of sub boxes opened to me: beauty boxes, personalised, clothes, etc. But I found it hard to find a good food related subscription box, not in Europe at least. So when I read about Sense Box I wanted to get in touch to know a bit of their history. These boxes begin as a personal project of Estefanía Ferriol and Kelly…

5 reasons why The Haunting of Hill House should be on your Watch list

It might be the beginning of the autumn season, or that October is basically Halloween Month but it seems that Netflix just can’t stop uploading Horror Movies and Shows. I can’t say Im a horror fan, after and unfortunate incident with The Ring when I was young I’ve stayed away of horror films, Im not talking about bloody SAW like movies, but psychological horror… I just can’t. But in a turn of events I decided to watch the trailer for Hill House that after watching it, it had me saying ‘Wait…what?…I have to watch this’  So I decided to give The Haunting of Hill House a go last Saturday…and by Sunday night…

    Volume 2

Hello weird part of the internet. It’s me again, you might know me from a previous blog called The Kiwi Diaries, a sort of travel, lifestyle diary I started when I moved to New Zealand, hence the Kiwi aspect. Throughout the years that blog became a bit of a mix match of themes: food, travel, design, art, events, heavily focused on my Auckland years. But since then I moved to Berlin, now Spain, and who knows… future place TBC (parents don’t freak out just yet) It didn’t seem right to continue with The Kiwi Diaries if I was not in New Zealand, no matter how I tried to force it…
